You can see the Experience bar on the top left corner of the screen.
Experience (
) is needed to level up the character. Doing so, the player will be awarded 
, 
and sometimes other content (see here for more info).
The player can earn experience points by winning online multiplayer games and single-player missions. Also, the higher the level is, the more weapons are unlocked in the Armory. The best way to get experience points is by playing modes or minigames.
Currently, the maximum achievable level is level 55, where the player will no longer be able to acquire experience and hence will not be able to receive any further level-up rewards.
